Physical Therapy

Samuel's occupational therapist suggested that Sam get evaluated for physical therapy.
During the session, the therapist thought that doing an intense, twice a week program for a month make a lot of progress.

Here is a video from his therapy session. He is wearing a compression vest and has inserts in his shoes. For some reason, I can't download anymore of the videos or photos. My phone is being weird.

Return to Running and Weight Loss

Not too long after coming back from our Florida trip, I looked at some photos that I was in and I wasn't happy with how I had let myself go. I don't want Sam to have memories of me as the mom that isn't able to do much, because of her weight.

These photos are my fuel!!

I first signed up for Runner's Edge of the Rockies (REOTR) to get into their running program for the Colfax Half Marathon. After running their schedule for a month or so, I joined Weight Watchers and have seen a drop of 13+ pounds in the last 7 weeks.

The Colfax Half won't be a problem, I'm right on track to be in good shape for it.

My next goal is the biggest, The Rock 'N' Roll Denver Marathon. I have decided to train with Team in Training (TNT), since I know their training method and like the camaraderie, which seems to be better than REOTR, since their is a loftier goal of raising money for charity.

I hope to recruit several women on my block to train with me.

I have a splinter blog where I'm going to detail my running "career." Please follow me at Running Towards 26.2.

First Vacation of 2013 (Heavy Photos)

My family, my dad, and my best friend headed to Florida in early January.

We decided on this, because Jody and I were going to complete our first marathon, The 20th Anniversary Disney World Marathon. Unfortunately, I experienced plantar fasciitis, which sidelined me from training for 13 weeks, which ended my training. I wish that I would have spoken to a podiatrist before I had already paid for the entry fee. One of these days I'm going to go back and complete the marathon, or maybe event the Goofy Challenge (half marathon on Saturday, full marathon on Sunday).

We flew out on the 5th, but the marathon wasn't until the 13th, so we stayed in Bonita Springs, where my family has a condo and stayed there from Saturday until Wednesday. Here are some highlight photos.

We went to the pool, out to dinner and they boys went to a nature preserve and saw a crocodile. We even went to the Golf of Mexico. The water was freezing, but Sam didn't care.

On Wednesday, we headed up to Orlando and stayed in a house that I rented. Amazing and reasonably priced!

Thursday was Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. I'm not sure if Sam even blinked once while we were there.

Friday we decided that we would have the most fun at Disney's Animal Kingdom. He got to meet his favorite characters.

What a great place. Not a crazy as Magic Kingdom, but definitely pretty cool. We were able to relax more.

Half Off Christmas Art Projects for Children

I found a great website (Plumb District) that is offering 50% off a 3-Month Subscription to The Happy Trunk (monthly art projects for kids).

Each carefully curated box is filled with art supplies, crafts, and scientific activities for hands-on projects good for kids ages 3 to 7. With this offer, every month for three months a new box of goodies will appear full stocked and ready to be ripped open by your tot-sized explorers. They'll build beautiful fall and holiday themed decorations, make sand into glass, and color and craft 'til their hearts are content!

I also found an extra 20% off promotion code (valid today only). spooky20

That means, you get a 3 month subscription for $23.20.

I got mine. Now it's time to cross off a child on your gift list this year, half off + some.

Glove Compartment- Before & After

When I sold my old car and purchased my new 2011 Ford Edge, I didn't take the time to go through my glove compartment (who actually does). I just pulled everything out and shoved it in the new one.

Finally, I was sick of having a bunch of papers in it (probably from 5+ years ago) and not being able to even find a pen.

It took a whole 6 minutes to go through everything, sort out what I needed to keep and toss or shred the rest.

Everything Dumped in a Bag

My First Fall Mantel

Since we've moved in (in April), our mantel was covered with photos in frames. Thank goodness I never took a picture. Then I went to Crate & Barrel and had some hurricanes shipped to our house.

They arrived yesterday and I replaced the photos with them.

Pretty bland, I know. My family and I went to Target and I invaded the $1 bins and found some great items to fill them.

Until after Thanksgiving, I think this will do well.

Flatiron Slide

Me and Samuel went to Flatirons last Thursday to listen to the last of their Summer Nights Concert Series, but I couldn't get Samuel to sit still. Instead, we played on the jungle gym and Samuel went down the slide about 100 times. We had so much fun.

Our Saturday Open House

We had a very busy weekend and smack dab in the middle was our Open House.

We gave invitations to all of our closest neighbors, Sam's classmates, some coworkers and our family and friends to come and help us celebrate our new home and have an end of the summer get together.

Surprisingly, I gave my photography duties to several children in attendance. I wanted to spend the time getting to know people in our neighborhood and having a good time.

I just took a look at what they produced and I'm happily surprised. All of the photos are unedited and in no particular order.

Now that the party's over and we don't need the refreshments anymore, is there anyone that would like 7 2-liter bottles of random pop (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, root beer, Pepsi) and 36 can of Diet 7-Up, 10 cans of Mountain Dew and 2 12 packs of Diet Pepsi and regular Pepsi?

Have a great week everyone!
